World Championships Roster: Augustus, Lawson Not Included

Minnesota Lynx wing Seimone Augustus and Connecticut Sun guard Kara Lawson have not been included on the final USA Basketball roster. From a USA Basketball release: Named to the 2010 USA World Championship squad are two-time Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird (Seattle Storm), Tamika Catchings (Indiana Fever), and Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury); 2008 Olympic gold medalist Sylvia Fowles (Chicago Sky); 2004 Olympic gold medalist Swin Cash (Seattle Storm); as well as top-tier international newcomers Jayne Appel (San Antonio Silver Stars),Tina Charles (Connecticut Sun), Candice Dupree (Phoenix Mercury), Asjha Jones (Connecticut Sun), Angel McCoughtry (Atlanta Dream), Maya Moore (University of Connecticut), and Lindsay Whalen (Minnesota Lynx). You know, I think you just have to thank the fans. I think it's an awesome experience. I was definitely surprised by it being a rookie. I think it's just always making sure the fans happy and trying to keep their support throughout this league is really important to us. Given that she's still learning the system after a late start due to injury, It's too early to pass a final judgment on just how good she could be.

Swish Appeal Mock Draft 2.0: How might Appel's injury & Sun trade affect the draft?

Evaluating Pac-10 WNBA Draft Prospects: Coach, Fan, & Statistical Analysis

Although Stanford University's Jayne Appel (far right) is probably the Pac-10's only first-round draft prospect, teammate Rosalyn Gold-Onwude's defense and California guard Alexis Gray-Lawson's scoring ability could earn them spots on a WNBA roster as well.
