Bill Alhouse
My 1st year in Palo Alto Little League I played for Alhouse Realty. We won the City Championship in our division.
Mr. Alhouse came to one of our practices…or it could have to been to a baseball session at Stanford Coaching Camp (this was a long time ago). He brought a kind of pitching machine that I hadn’t seen before: The ball was inserted between two small, spinning tires, and the spin it imparted could be altered by changing the relative speed of the tires. Supposedly, he created it himself — at least that’s the story I recall. I can’t find any documentation on that. But given the extent of his involvement in baseball, it wouldn’t surprise me.
