Dodgers Draft Stanford Closer Chris Reed 16th Overall
Chris Reed played high school baseball 20 miles from Dodger Stadium. Tonight, the Dodgers made the Stanford closer the 16th pick in the First-Year Player Draft.
Reed is 6-2 with a 2.54 ERA in 49.2 innings this season. The lefty has 9 saves, 48 strikeouts against 15 walks, and has held opponents to a .201 batting average. The junior was the first Cardinal player and the third Pac-10 player selected in this year's draft. UCLA pitchers Gerrit Cole and Trevor went first and third, respectively, to the Pirates and Diamondbacks.
