This Week in Stanford Sports - Sept. 5-11

Friday, September 9
Men's Soccer - vs. Kentucky, 3PM, Cagan Stadium
The men look for their first win of the season after suffering a disappointing trip to Maryland and the nation's capital, which included a 2OT loss to Georgetown.

Field Hockey - vs. Indiana, 4PM, Varsity Field Hockey Turf
The women return home after a victory over Yale, hoping to improve their record to 4-1 on the season.

Women's Volleyball - vs. #2 Penn State, 5:30PM, Maples Pavilion
One of the most important, if not the most important, matches of the season, #3 Stanford takes on defending national champion Penn State in the Nike Big Four Classic at Maples that also features Texas and Florida.

Women's Soccer - vs. #1 Notre Dame, 7:30PM, Cagan Stadium
The volleyball team isn't the only team facing a defending national champion this night.  After watching the volleyball match, run over to Cagan Stadium and watch a rematch of the national championship game that features the current top two teams in the country.  This game will almost assuredly sellout, even with the new seating deck opened.

Men's Swimming & Diving - @ Centenary College, TBA, Baton Rouge, LA
The men swimmers and divers kick off the year in Louisiana, hoping for a strong fall season that continues into January.

Saturday, September 10
Football - @ Duke, 12:30PM PT, Durham, NC
The football team looks to continue to work out the kinks without showing too many of their cards as they take on the Blue Devils, who last week lost to FCS team Richmond.  At home.

Women's Volleyball - vs. #7 Florida or #10 Texas, 7PM, Maples Pavilion
The Nike Big Four Classic continues with Stanford taking on either the Gators or the Longhorns, depending on the results of the previous night.

Sunday, September 11
Women's Soccer - vs. #13 UC Irvine, 1PM, Cagan Stadium
The women's soccer team takes as much of a breather at Cagan Stadium as they can after taking on top-ranked Notre Dame by facing their fourth ranked opponent of the season in the form of the #13 Anteaters.

Field Hockey - vs. Northeastern, 1PM, Varsity Field Hockey Turf
Field hockey concludes their weekend by taking on Northeastern at home.

Men's Soccer - vs. Lehigh, 3:30PM, Cagan Stadium
The men hope to complete a weekend sweep as they conclude the doubleheader at Cagan Stadium against Lehigh.

Friday night is going to be pretty hectic around Stanford, but if you're in the area of any of these games, come out and support Stanford!
