Heisman Watch for Week Eight

Top Heisman candidates for the upcoming weekend

NCAA Football: Duke at Louisville Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The top Heisman contender to watch is Lamar Jackson playing NC State, a team that is coming off a heart breaking loss to Clemson. Now NC State is going up against Jackson whose Cardinals also suffered a heartbreaking loss to Clemson and then came out flat against Duke in their follow up game. Now Jackson looks to get back on track.

Jabrill Peppers is becoming more and more recognized as a legitimate Heisman contender. Now he has another easy matchup against Illinois to help pad his stat line. This is an opportunity to get some sacks, tackles for loss, and offensive production on a weak team.

JT Barrett is up against Penn State this week after a gutsy performance against a truly impressive Wisconsin defense. Now with Ohio State set on a top four collision course with Michigan, JT Barrett has as much of the spotlight as he wants while his team is in the rankings headlights. He has amassed 1,641 total yards and 22 total touchdowns and he has progressively improved throughout the season.

Washington Huskies QB Jake Browning has entered the Heisman discussion after consecutive blowout wins over Stanford and Oregon. Browning has 23 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. He also has over 1400 passing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. The Huskies have Oregon State today so Browning should light up the scoreboard and the stat sheet.
