In David Shaw’s weekly press conference on Tuesday he was asked what Stanford’s goals were for the season. Shaw said his goal is to win this week. He further elaborated that is was foolish to look ahead past the next game and instead focus on playing their best game of the season. He has a young team with plenty of talent and each week he wants them to continue to improve.

Ahead of the first start by Keller Chryst, Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren said they needed a spark. On Tuesday Shaw said that while Chryst played well, for him the spark in the offense came from the offensive line. Shaw also credited the punt return that was called back for energizing the offensive line because it was a reminder to the linemen what Christian McCaffrey can do when you get him into space. The offensive line responded with an excellent night for the Stanford run game.

Injury Report:

Guard Johnny Caspers is questionable for Saturday’s game with Oregon State they are going to evaluate him later in the week. Fullback Daniel Marx has been upgraded slightly from definitely out to doubtful.
