Recap from Stanford Athletics:

“The Cardinal (8-5, 0-1 Pac-12) faced a 52-39 deficit at halftime against the visiting Sun Devils (8-6, 1-0), who shot 54 percent (13-24) from beyond the arc. Sophomore Marcus Sheffield scored a career-high 35 points on 11-15 shooting, marking the most points by a Stanford player since Chasson Randle scored 35 against Rhode Island on March 22, 2015. He was also a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.”

“Things slowed down and tightened up in the final 20 minutes as the home team made a couple of last ditch attempts to cut into the deficit.

Stanford would pull to within three points of the lead at 62-59 with just under 12 minutes remaining, but a quick 7-2 spurt from the visitors pushed the advantage back out to eight.”
