The Stanford Cardinal will send seven current student-athletes to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janerio. So let us get to know who will represent the Cardinal this summer.

Albane Valenzuela

The Stanford freshman will be representing Switzerland in Rio, in women’s golf. At the age of 18 she clinched the spot at the U.S Women’s Open Championship at CordeValle Gulf Club in Santa Martin California.

Ben Hallock And Bret Bonanni

Another Cardinal freshman going to the Olympics, Ben Hallock, will be joining senior Bret Bonanni on the 13-man Water Polo team in Rio. When John Vargas talked about last year’s recruiting class, he said it is "One of the best we’ve ever had", equally impressive is the fact Hallock was able to stand out among this group. Bonanni is also a very accomplished as he is a two time first team All-American.

Simone Manuel, Lia Neal And Brickelle Bro

Manuel and Neal were both named to the women’s Olympic swim team while Bro is set to join the women’s Paralympic swim team. Sophomore Manuel and junior Neal place first and second respectively in the Stanford record books for their free swim times in the 50 yard and 100 yard swims. Freshman swimmer Bro set the record for the 1,650 yard Paralympic American freestyle swim.

Kiley Neushul And Maggie Steffens

Stanford will be represented on the women’s Water Polo team by two seniors. Neushul and Steffens have both been first team All-Americans while playing for the Cardinal and will now go on to showcase their skills in Rio.

Here is a list of the current and former Cardinal athletes on the U.S. Olympic team.
