The opening quarter of the 2016 season was dominated by the Cardinal in time of possession but not really by points. The first quarter features a punt return for a touchdown from McCaffrey called back because of a penalty, a 50-yard field goal from Ukropina and Stanford dominating time of possession.
On the first play of the second quarter, however, quarterback Ryan Burns opened things up with a beautiful 40-yard touchdown pass to Michael Rector. It was the first touchdown in Burns college career, and the first touchdown for Stanford in the 2016 campaign.
Up top! Ryan Burns connects with Michael Rector for the @StanfordFball touchdown! https://t.co/qWrsSCKFui
