Arkansas, Butler, UCONN, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Stanford, and Texas.
WOW!
These programs combine for 23 National Championships, 89 Final Fours, 391 NCAA tournament appearances!
The tournament will be split into 2 8-team brackets with teams in the same conference in opposite brackets. So, at the very least we know that Stanford won’t be in the same bracket as the Oregon Ducks.
The tournament is named after Phil Knight, the owner of Nike. Stanford’s inclusion in this tournament is likely due to Knight’s connection to Stanford University. Knight recently donated $400 million to Stanford to help build the Knight Management Center, the new home for the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Whatever the case, Cardinal Hoops fans should absolutely be thrilled to be included in this awesome tournament.
