The Stanford Cardinal take on the Oregon Ducks tonight on Homecoming weekend. The tragic wildfires in Northern California, however, have put things in perspective. Stanford Athletics is monitoring the air quality and suggests everyone take some safety precautions. Also note that the air quality may result in the game not being played:
“If the AQI indicates outdoor physical exertion is dangerous, we will take the appropriate steps to protect our student-athletes and fans, including postponing, rescheduling, relocating or cancelling practices and competitions, if necessary.
Local air quality is projected to fluctuate based on meteorological conditions, but at this time, all competitions this weekend are expected to be played as originally scheduled.”
If the game does take place as scheduled consider bringing some important items to donate to those impacted by the fires. Stanford Athletics will be accepting donations at all gates and at Fan Fest. Particularly useful items include: Tents, Sleeping pads/cots, Pillows, Water, Non-perishable food, Masks, gloves, Personal hygiene products, Extra phone chargers, Diapers, Baby food, Can openers, Kids' games, Clothing, Big box store gift cards (Costco, Target etc.)
