The Stanford women’s soccer program lead by coach Paul Ratcliffe, has won the program’s second National Championship this past Sunday at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida. This now gives the Stanford Cardinal its 114th NCAA team championship, which ties with UCLA for all-time championships.
The women’s soccer program went 24-1 with their only loss coming from #8 ranked Florida back in August. The Cardinal faced a 19-3-3 Bruins team this past Sunday, defeating them 3-2.
Stanford started off strong with two first half goals by Andi Sullivan and Kyra Carusa. But UCLA came back in the second half with two goals to even up the score. Then Jaye Boissiere struck a 25 foot shot in the 67th minute to take the lead and eventual win for the Cardinal.
The Stanford Cardinal look to be in headed in the right direction for yet, another Director’s Cup at the end of the year.
