The Stanford Cardinal are returning to the NCAA tournament as a 2-seed taking on 15-seed, New Mexico State. Stanford women’s basketball is scheduled to tip off at Saturday March 18 in Manhattan, Kansas.

There was not much drama headed into the NCAA tournament selection show as Stanford had an automatic bid after winning the Pac-12 Conference tournament, and also being the sixth-ranked team in the nation. The only questions that remained unanswered were who, where, and when. Those questions were answered today.

Stanford will be in the same region with number 1-seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish. If Stanford wins in the first round they will take on either Kansas State or Drake in the second round. If Stanford makes it to the 3rd round they could have a rematch with the 3-seed Texas Longhorns who Stanford defeated 71-59 back on November 14th, 2016.

As a conference the Pac-12 dominated with 7 schools making the tournament. Out of the Pac-12 Conference the Washington Huskies a 3-seed, the California Golden Bears a 9-seed, The UCLA Bruins a 4-seed, Oregon Ducks a 10-seed, Arizona State Sun Devils, an 8-seed, the Oregon State Beavers a 2-seed all made the Tournament.
