David Shaw expects Keller Chryst to be back for fall camp

Less than three months after his starting QB injured his knee, David Shaw expressed optimism about Keller Chryst’s status for fall camp. In short, Shaw believes that Chryst will be back in action in time for practice this fall.

Here’s Shaw’s full quote from David Lombardi at ESPN:

"Keller is right on schedule to be back full-go for training camp," Shaw said. "Hopefully we won't have any setbacks between now and then.

"We won't rush it. If he's not 100 percent at the beginning of training camp, that's fine. We're not going to hit the panic button. He's doing really well. As of right now, we're gearing toward him participating relatively early, if not day one of training camp."

This may just be a head coach expressing positivity about his player, but it is encouraging that Shaw doesn’t see any problems with the rehab process. We don’t know the exact extent of Chryst’s injury, although Bruce Feldman reported that it was a torn ACL.

Stanford’s spring practice started this week, with the Spring Game scheduled for April 15.
