The Detroit Lions reportedly signed Stanford Cardinal wide receiver Michael Rector according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

One of the biggest question mark receiver in the draft was not selected despite having has a great red zone upside, but there are some draw backs as well. In a season that was built around him being the star receiver, he posted mediocre numbers and had problems dropping the ball and showing consistent separation on the outside. The their is his suspension for team rules violations at the beginning of the 2015 season, brining into question his team discipline.

Because of his size and speed he will always be a tantalizing option but if he is going to get a spot on the final roster he will need to put some serious work into the little things again.

He needs to work on coming out of breaks, shaking coverage and and perfecting his ball skills. His immediate upside is when a team gets to the 20, he can turn the game into simple boxout basketball and playing the ball in the air. He also has some really great burst, as showcased against USC.
