In the 2nd quarter of the Stanford-UCLA game on Saturday, Stanford’s women’s athletics program was presented with the Capital One Cup. Stanford took home the Capital One Cup by earning the most ever points by a program this past season with 175.5 points.
Winning national championships in volleyball, swimming and diving, and water polo, along with top-10 finishes in cross country, field hockey, soccer, basketball, fencing, indoor track & field, golf, rowing, and tennis, helped the Cardinal secure the victory.
This is a record fourth Capital One Cup victory for the women’s athletics program, and it’s also the fifth trophy to be awarded to a Stanford athletics program overall. Last year, the Cardinal men’s athletics program brought home its first-ever Capital One Cup trophy, and this year placed 4th in the Cup final standings.
The Capital One Cup is awarded annually to the best men's and women's Division I athletics programs for their cumulative on-field performance across multiple sports.
