Stanford Men’s Basketball Full Schedule Released

It’s almost that time of year again

NCAA Basketball: Washington State at Stanford Andrew Villa-USA TODAY Sports

The Stanford Cardinal have announced the full slate of games for the 2018-19 season, and the young Cardinal team will certainly, have their hands full.

After coming off his second season with the Cardinal, Jerod Haase looks to have his team in the midst of a program turn-around and at the brink of bringing Maples Pavilion back to life. Stanford ended the 2017-18 season with 19 wins and finished tied for third place in the Pac-12.

Sophomores Daejon Davis and KZ Okpala will be the two of the returning starters who had outstanding freshman campaigns and will be the talented base the Cardinal will need to improve upon from last year.

Regarding the home non-conference schedule, let’s be frank: it’s not sexy. The Cardinal start the season off at home against Seattle on November 6th then take on Portland State, Eastern Washington, San Jose State and Long Beach State, respectively. These names don’t scream, “sell out” but with the departures of Dorian Pickens and Michael Humphrey to graduation, not to mention Reid Travis transferring his last year of eligibility to Kentucky, the young Cardinal team maybe shouldn’t focus on huge names quite yet.

The opposite could be true in regards to big names when Stanford competes in the “Battle 4 Atlantis” tournament in the Bahamas starting on November 21st, facing the always Big Ten contender, Wisconsin. Other big names will be in attendance including, Florida, No.7 Virginia, Butler, Dayton, Oklahoma, and Middle Tennessee State.

Other notable games on the schedule include at No.8 North Carolina, at No.2 Kansas, No.17 Oregon and No.18 UCLA.
