The NIT brackets were revealed on Sunday evening, and Stanford received a three seed. In this tournament, the higher seeded team in each of the first three rounds receives a home game. As a result, the Cougars of BYU will be making the trip to Maples on Wednesday.

Stanford is one of five Pac-12 schools in the thirty-two team field. USC, who many consider a tournament snub, received a one seed. Utah, Oregon, and Washington are also in the field.

BYU finished third in the WCC behind powers Gonzaga and St. Mary’s. They upset the Gaels of St. Mary’s before falling to Gonzaga in the conference tournament title game in Las Vegas.

BYU is a well coached team, and can beat most anyone when their shots are falling. Their signature non-conference win came against Utah, who was tied for third in the Pac with Stanford and UCLA. They are led by sophomore forward Yoeli Childs and sharpshooters Elijah Bryant and TJ Haws. TJ’s brother, Tyler, also went to BYU and finished as one of the top twenty scorers in NCAA history.

Stanford won NIT titles in 2012 and 2015 under Johnny Dawkins. They also won it in 1991, with Adam Keefe on the team.
