Stanford gets fifth seed, draws Cal

The two rivals will meet for the third time this year

Stanford finished the season tied for third in the PAC-12. Due to tiebreakers and late wins from Utah and UCLA, they will enter the tournament as the fifth seed, narrowly missing out on a bye.

They face twelfth seed Cal on Wednesday in Las Vegas. The Golden Bears stormed back to defeat Stanford in the teams’ conference opener, but Stanford won the second matchup in hostile Haas Pavilion. The rubber match will likely feature Stanford as an approximate ten point favorite.

If Stanford gets by Cal, they will face UCLA on Thursday. The Cardinal split the season series with the Bruins.
