Stanford’s Defense Gets on the Board with a Safety!

What kind of Vegas odds would you have gotten on “Stanford’s first score is a safety”?

NCAA Football: Pac-12 Championship-Southern California vs Stanford John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

Throughout the entire off-season, it seemed like all anybody could ever talk about was how good the Stanford offense—and how lousy the Stanford defense—would be. As it turned out, it was the Stanford defense who drew first blood against SDSU.

Bobby Okereke came charging from over 10 yards out at full speed to slam into SDSU QB Christian Chapman before he could get the ball away!

This was the first Stanford safety since 2016 vs. Colorado, when a safety was forced by none other than today’s honorary captain, Solomon Thomas! Stanford now trails SDSU, 7-2.
