Kodye Pugh out for season with knee injury

Injury was suffered in Switzerland

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Stanford Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Per an official release, Kodye Pugh will miss this upcoming season with a knee injury. The injury occurred during an exhibition game last month in Switzerland, and will require surgery.

In two seasons Pugh has made 38 appearances, including 1 start. He holds career averages of 1.6 points and 0.7 rebounds in 6.3 minutes. With a thinned out roster, he was likely due to at least a modest uptick in minutes this season. He’s an excellent athlete and has worked at honing his skills each year. He had a few good highlights in Europe before going down.

Pugh is entering his senior year at Stanford, but has only used two seasons of eligibility due to a redshirt. Down the line, he’s likely in line for a rare sixth year. He announced that he will remain part of the team for this season. Moving forward, though, Pugh will have the option to graduate transfer with his extra two years.

The Cardinal still have 12 healthy scholarship players for this season, but 3 of those (Herenton, Beskind, Keefe) were previously expected be walk-ons.
