The defensive back class for 2021 is absolutely loaded for the Stanford Cardinal, seeing their third commit for next year already. That’s now three of four total commitments hailing from the defensive secondary for the class of 2021.
The latest of those is Caleb Ellis, a three-star safety prospect from Independence High School in Frisco, Texas. Ellis is a 6’0, 180-pound hard-hitting safety who ranks in the top 80 among all safeties for his class and in the top 200 for the state of Texas. He had at least 30 offers including several Power-5 offers but chose David Shaw and the Cardinal.

According to 247Sports, Ellis had an interception, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery a season ago while finishing with 84 total tackles. He’s a ballhawking safety who also represents a sure-tackler, if his highlights are to tell us anything.
He joins QB Ari Patu and fellow defensive backs Josh Moore and Jimmy Wyrick for the class of 2021 that ranks 76th nationally and out of the top half of Pac-12 classes before the Ellis commitment.
Either way, we’re happy to have you! Welcome to the Stanford family, Caleb! You’ll fit in nicely in Cardinal.
