It’s happening! Tiger vs Phil!
Tiger Woods is taking on longtime rival Phil Mickelson to benefit charity, as they’ve finally found a venue, time and partners to make the event happen since golf has been sidelined. Tiger is partnering with Peyton Manning while Phil is pairing up with Tom Brady at Medalist Golf Club at Hobe Sound, Florida.
The match will be featured in two different formats including a Four Ball (Best Ball) format on the front nine and a modified alternate shot format on the back nine. There will be multiple other challenges placed throughout the course to benefit charity.
WarnerMedia and the golfers are collectively donating $10 million in benefit of COVID-19 relief. It’s set to go down on May 24 at 3 p.m. ET and be broadcast across the Turner Sports networks of TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN.
All four players will be wearing open mics, so you know this will be exciting television.
We all know that Tiger is largely considered among the best golfers ever, if he isn’t the greatest to ever play the sport. He played two years at Stanford and was twice named a first-team All-American, both in 1995 and 1996. He was named the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year and won the NCAA individual championship in 1996 as well as the Pac-10 championship.
