ESPNW is commemorating the 48th anniversary of the signing of Title IX and by doing so, are featuring hours of coverage of some of the best female athletic events of recent memory.
“On June 23, 1972, as part of the Education Amendments, the United States passed Title IX which “requires that no person be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination on the basis of sex under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
In celebrating the event, ESPN is launching espnW Presents: When We Play. This is a three-day event with women’s sport-centric initiatives throughout. There is set to be over 125 hours of women’s sports-centric content that spans three days and across five networks. The fans got in on the voting for the content that is to be aired and several classic games are to be re-aired.
