Top 2021 G prospect Owen Prentice names Stanford to Top 3

Prentice previously had a Top 9, but narrowed that list to three with Stanford, LSU and Washington making the cut

The Stanford Cardinal officially came one step closer to landing a top recruiting target for the 2021 cycle when four-star offensive guard Owen Prentice named the Cardinal to his top three schools.

Prentice, previously with a list of top nine schools consisting of eight Pac-12 universities, named Stanford to his final three alongside Washington and LSU. The defending national champions seem to be the favorite to land the Seattle-area guard but keeping Stanford on his top three with his near-home Huskies is a great thing for head coach David Shaw and Co.

Prentice is the nation’s eighth-ranked guard for the class of 2021 and the fourth-best player in the state of Washington.

He compared to current Cleveland Browns G Joel Bitonio and his evaluation speaks to it:

A smart, hardworking player who can play any spot on the offensive line. Projects as an interior linemen with his size and strength and ability to go up against defensive tackles. Has plus ability when pulling and getting in to the open field. Needs to continue to refine as a pass blocker since prep offense is mostly run-based but is a punishing run blocker and can play left guard at the next level. Great footwork and uses his hands well to engage his defender. Projects as multi-year Power 5 starter and projects as third day pick.

There is no timeline on his decision but the Cardinal are firmly in the running. He’d be a huge get, literally and physically, for Stanford.
