It should come as no surprise that Stanford Cardinal CB Paulson Adebo has found his way to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list once again. A member of the 2019 preseason watch list, Adebo has more than solidified himself as one of the top cornerback prospects for this season and for the NFL as well.
He landed on the Thorpe Award watch list with 48 others from all over the nation, forming an elite group of defensive backs.
The Thorpe Award is given out annually to the nation’s top defensive back. The award also states that the preseason list is compiled by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame based on previous performances and preseason All-America lists.
Six different Pac-12 players were selected as Adebo is joined by his conference rivals m Talanoa Hufanga from USC, Camryn Bynum of Cal, Thomas Graham and Jevon Holland from Oregon and Elijah Molden of Washington.
The award will be given during the Home Depot College Awards show later this fall and the three finalists as chosen by the panel will be invited to the show.
Stanford has never had a Thorpe Award winner and Adebo has every chance to bring home such an honor if he were to rekindle some of the magic that saw him put his name into first-round talk for the NFL draft following the 2018 season. He really caught fire down the stretch a season ago and doing so this year could absolutely plant him as a finalist for the award.
