The NFL season is upon us, and without any lead up through the preseason and limited availability of preseason camps, we were jolted back to action on Sunday with a full slate of the 2020 season.

And, as you would have guessed it, the Stanford Cardinal were well represented.

Most notably, former RB Christian McCaffrey was very impressive in his 2020 season debut despite his Carolina Panthers team dropping the game to the Las Vegas Raiders, 34-30.

McCaffrey carried the ball 23 times for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground. He chipped in with three catches on four targets from new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for 38 yards.

McCaffrey’s touchdowns kept the Panthers in this game but a late touchdown by second-year RB Josh Jacobs for the Raiders iced the game.

Other notable performances from former Cardinal in the NFL on Sunday:

Henry Anderson had three combined tackles for the New York Jets.

Trent Murphy and Harrison Phillips each had two combined tackles for the Buffalo Bills in their victory over the Jets.

Ty Montgomery got one carry in a crowded backfield for the New Orleans Saints in their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Andrus Peat got the start on the offensive line for the Saints as well.

Bobby Okereke had a solo tackle for the Indianapolis Colts.

Zach Ertz had a touchdown in the first quarter for the Philadelphia Eagles and finished with three catches for 18 yards.

Austin Hooper had two catches for 15 yards for the Cleveland Browns.

Dalton Schultz had one reception for 11 yards on four targets for the Dallas Cowboys.
