Flexing their collective muscle in the recruiting game, the Stanford Cardinal picked up a huge win on the east coast when three-star WR Jayson Raines pledged to Stanford.

Raines is a three-star receiver from West Orange High School in West Orange, New Jersey. He initially released a list of top eight schools, without Stanford making the cut.
That changed, however, upon his committing to Stanford, proving the power of consistent recruiting and never letting go. And also having Stanford as your promise absolutely gets to help head coach David Shaw and Co.
That is ultimately what sealed the deal — as you can tell from the video in which he states:
“Only one school stood apart from the rest. A school that would greatly benefit me for not just four years, but for the next 40.”
His original top eight programs were Princeton, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Yale, Miami (Fl.) and Pittsburgh.
Raines ranks as the state of New Jersey’s 27th-best player and the 172nd-best receiver in this class by 247Sports.
At 6’3, 197 pounds, Raines becomes the third member in as many recruiting classes to pledge to Stanford from the state of New Jersey. He joins Class of 2020’s TE Lukas Ungar and Class of 2019’s OLB Aeneas DiCosmo.
Welcome to the Cardinal Family, Jayson!
And as always — go Card!
