Ever since the first day of high school, Colby Bowman knew he wanted to play college football. He even knew that he wanted to play at Stanford. I mean, who wouldn't?

Bowman is currently a junior at St. John Bosco, a football powerhouse in Bellflower, California. However, Bowman didn't start his high school career with the Braves and transferred into the school as a sophomore.

Initially, Bowman attended JSerra, who recently got beat by Bosco 51-10, and decided to move in pursuit of his academic and athletic dreams.

"I came to Bosco to be the best on and off the field everyday," he said. "There's a great combination of academics and athletics. It's a great school."

His decision to transfer has certainly paid off. Bosco is in contention for another CIF title, and Bowman is committed to play football at Stanford in the near future. Life couldn't be better.

Despite committing, Bowman must focus on academics and take either the SAT or the ACT. On the SAT, he needs to score at least at 1200, and on the ACT, he needs to get a 26. However, there's no need to worry; based off Bowman's past academic performance, he'll do just fine on either test. He's currently taking two AP courses and boasts a 3.8 cumulative GPA.

Clearly, Bowman impresses from an academic standpoint, but he impresses even more on the field. A four-star recruit, Bowman is 6'2" with room to grow and runs a 4.67 40, but his best attribute can't be recorded in the stat box.

"I'd like to say I have great speed, height, and hands, but I'm also a physical blocker," he mentioned.

He even credited his offer to his blocking ability.

"When I went up to Stanford junior day, they always talked about the big, physical receivers that can block and good teammates. They don't want a selfish teammate that complains when they don't get the ball."

It was also at that junior day that Bowman received his offer.

"We had this camp, and I could tell that Coach Shaw was watching me a lot," he recalls. "Then after camp, we had a little barbecue, and during the barbecue, they pulled me aside and offered me a scholarship."

Bowman's classmate Chris Steele also has an offer from Stanford, and he tells the four-star corner to join him every day.

"I mean, it's Stanford," he stated. "I don't know how you turn it down, so I've been in Chris's ear a lot."

Whether his teammate joins him or not, Bowman hopes to win a national championship as a Cardinal, connect with new teammates, and maximize his potential on and off the field.

He concluded, "I can't wait to meet some great people from all around the world and grow in all aspects of life."
