The Stanford Cardinal went down to the state of Arizona and took on the Arizona Wildcats. The last time these teams met ended in a blowout loss for Stanford basketball coach Jerod Haase and the team. This time around the Cardinal put up a much better fight but were unable to pull off the upset. The Cardinal lost 74-67 and now the Men’s Stanford basketball record has dropped to 12-12 on the season, 4-8 in Pac-12 Conference play. The highlights and recaps are below.
Recap from Stanford Athletics:
“Stanford's upset bid fell just short in a 74-67 loss to No. 9/10 Arizona on Wednesday night in the first game of its road trip to the desert.
After a lay-up from Marcus Allen knotted the game at 67-67 with 1:56 remaining, Arizona (22-3, 11-1 Pac-12) scored the game's final seven points to secure the win.”

Recap from Arizona Desert Swarm:
“Reid Travis was able to have his way with Ristic and Markkanen, leading Stanford with ten points and six rebounds at the midway break. One Travis bucket was so easy that Sean Miller called a timeout to yank Markkanen in favor of Comanche.
Travis was 5-of-10 from the field at halftime, but picked it up even more, finishing with 26 points (11-19 FG) and 11 rebounds. Stanford outscored Arizona 42 to 16 in the paint and had 12 offensive rebounds compared to UA’s nine.”

From the Associated Press via ESPN:
“Stanford is the only Pac-12 school that hasn't beaten Arizona in coach Sean Miller's eight seasons in Tucson.
The Cardinal sure came close on Wednesday night.
Allonzo Trier scored 22 points and made 12 of 12 from the free-throw line, helping the No. 9 Arizona escape with a 74-67 victory.”

Recap from the Stanford Daily:
“Stanford started the game strong, coming out at a blistering pace and advancing to a quick 7-0 lead. However, Arizona quickly recovered its offensive firepower and battled back to lead 35-32 at halftime. The second half proved to be more of the same, with the Wildcats being able to put up enough points to hold off Stanford.”
