The Associated Press released their annual preseason poll on Monday, and college football writers across America ranked the Cardinal the #13 team in the nation.

This season, Stanford plays four teams in the preseason top 25: #6 Washington, #12 Notre Dame, #15 USC, and #25 Oregon.

I think they're about in the right spot
Notre Dame being ranked higher (typical of the bias in these rankings) is actually good in my eyes; then maybe Stanford can get more of a benefit by beating them.

Stanford is ranked perfectly to make a nice run this season! From what I can surmise listening to critics, this team isn’t on anyone’s radar so there are currently no expectations for them to do well! I think everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised! …can’t wait for this season to begin!!!!

Overrated by a smidge
I think we are definitely a top-20 team but just not top-15. I understand all the programs in that 10-20 range have questions while we are good atleast on one side of the ball. Still it’s going to be tough to maintain this ranking given the rough even year schedule

Best Offense
I honestly cannot think of a team w/a better overall offense. We have an excellent O line, solid WRs, the best RB and strong depth at QB! We’re going to score some serious points this season and that alone will give the defense that necessary spark!!
