Shaw can’t help himself. Poor Stanford.

Once again Shaw couldn’t help himself and his frustrating uninspiring and, this season, thoroughly unsuccesful play calling has time and again ruined otherwise inspired efforts by elite scholar athletes. Up on Notre Dame, near midfield, moving on offense, holding a two-score lead, and the ball 4th and a foot, he chooses to punt, play his damn conservative odds, and the result, blocked punt ND TD, and 14-pt turnaround and lost lead at the half, completely torpedoed momentum and enthusiasm. Kelly completely outcoaching Shaw. Shaw can’t help himself. He insists on crawling into his tortoise shell of conservative calls even when the moment screams for him to do otherwise-let the kids play and go out to win it, not strategically retreat and hope not to lose. The empty stadium is testimony to the frustrating awfulness of Shaw-ball. If next season with healthier players doesn’t prove that this season was due only to injury and not culture and style, Stanford will not recover under Shaw.

Coach Shaw changes his approach to the game… His playcalling is too timid…playing as if we have the personnel to steamroll our opponents lol.
Nah, we needed to catch teams off guard as much as possible..oh well. This loss is solely on the coaches

Well I didn’t even tune into this one, great decision knowing the end result. Will catch it on the replay. But I expect to see some changes this off-season. Regroup and get back to competing next year

All aboard the mills train

Caught some replays on Twitter. Mills is still making a lot of mistakes with his reads (aka what does tavita do again??). But man the kid can throw the pretty ball and the tough throws too. With him, Austin Jones, WR dudes and the broken-in OL, I really want us to get a new OC/QB coach. We have so much potential.
