Stanford may not have made the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, but two of its alumni did.
Reid Travis and the Kentucky Wildcats received a 2 seed, and will face Abilene Christian on Thursday. Travis is averaging 11.1 points and 6.9 rebounds for UK. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference player at Stanford.
Robert Cartwright’s UC Irvine Anteaters enter the tournament as a 13 seed, and sport the nation’s third longest winning streak. They will face Kansas State on Friday in San Jose. Cartwright is averaging 6.8 points and 2.3 assists per game, and led the team with 17 points in their tough semifinal win over Long Beach State.

UCF (24-9) got to the Big Dance, after finishing 3rd in its conference, and then came within a point (and 2 last-second close-in shot attempts) of upsetting Duke in the 2nd Round This was UCF’s first tournament appearance since 2005. Kudos to UCF.
