The Stanford Cardinal football team got another future commit during the month of April, this time from the country’s 36th-ranked cornerback in Jimmy Wyrick.

Wyrick hails from Dallas, Texas, playing his high school ball at South Oak Cliff High School. Standing at 5’10, 160 pounds, he announced his commitment via Twitter on Tuesday.

He’s another NFL legacy addition to the Stanford Cardinal football team as his father played for the University of Minnesota and in the NFL. The younger Jimmy is a two-sport athlete as he also runs on the track & field team at his high school, participating in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

Wyrick finished his junior season as a Texas District 6-5A D-II First-Team selection and helped them into the second round of the playoffs. He held over 15 scholarship offers and Stanford beat out Cal, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Utah and legacy school Minnesota for his services.

He also competed in The Opening Regional in March of 2019, clocking the following results:

247Sports ranks him as the 36th-best cornerback prospect in the country and the 65th-best player in the state of Texas in the class of 2021 on their composite ranking.

Wyrick adds his name to a short, but growing, class of athletes signed on to 2021 as the class got its first commitment earlier this month with Ari Patu’s commitment as one of the country’s top dual-threat quarterbacks for 2021.
