Pac-12 Championship Game Six-Pack

Devilish brews to help take the edge off during today's Stanford-Arizona State game.

It's on.
It's on.

I had some friends over for last year's Oregon-Stanford game and vowed to drink nothing but Oregon beers. If the Cardinal pulled off the upset, I could imagine myself drinking the tears of Duck fans everywhere. If Stanford lost, at least I'd have some delicious beer in my system. Given the outcome of that game, it seemed like a good idea to continue the tradition this year. Widmer Brothers' Hopside Down never tasted as good as it did on November 7.

With another important game on tap, I'm going back to the well. I don't think I could name six Arizona beers, let alone find them in D.C., so I set out to create a six-pack of beers with a devil theme. (There are a lot of devilish beers.)

Here's my sampler for today, with stats (yes, stats!) from Stanford grad, fantasy baseball expert and founder Eno Sarris.

Vienna Lager, Devils Backbone Brewing Co. (Arrington, Va.)
BeerGraphs Stats:
Style: American IPA
ABV: 4.9
wOBAR: .45
BAR: 4.34

I've been to the brewery and like a lot of DB beers, including this one. Perfect for the SEC Championship Game -- the calm before the storm.

White Rascal, Avery Brewing Co. (Boulder, Colo.)
BeerGraphs Stats:

Style: Witbier
ABV: 5.6
wOBAR: .25
BAR: 2.81

Another beer I like. There's a white demon on the label.

HopDevil, Victory Brewing Co. (Downingtown, Pa.)
BeerGraphs Stats:
Style: American IPA
ABV: 6.7
wOBAR: .25
BAR: 3.43

This is probably a popular beer among more than a few Sun Devils fans, but I'm okay with that. It's delicious and pairs well with cheddar cheese, BBQ ribs and Tyler Gaffney touchdowns.

Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, Calif.)
BeerGraphs Stats:
Style: American Strong Ale
ABV: 7.2
wOBAR: .27
BAR: 3.95

Thanks to Jack Blanchat for the recommendation, as I had forgotten about the devil dude on the label. This will be the first time I've tried the Oaked version.

The Sixth Glass, Boulevard Brewing Co. (Kansas City, Mo.)
BeerGraphs Stats:
Style: Belgian Quad
ABV: 10.5
wOBAR: .1
BAR: 1.49

I've never tried The Sixth Glass, a quadrupel ale for the fourth quarter. The devil on the label bears a striking resemblance to Sparky, no?

Devil's Milk, DuClaw Brewing Co. (Bel Air, Md.)
BeerGraphs Stats:
Style: American Barleywine
ABV: 10.6
wOBAR: .5
BAR: 2.84

Never tried this one either. If I get to the Devil's Milk, things have either gone really, really well or very poorly.

Cheers to a win! What are you drinking today?
