The Stanford Cardinal (7-5 overall, 5-4 Conference, 2nd in the PAC 12 North Division) will be headed to the Foster Farms Bowl to play the Maryland Terrapins (7-5 overall, 4-4 Conference, 3rd place in the Big 10 East Division). The game will be played on Tuesday, December 30, 7pm pst at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara California.
This is the first time the two teams have ever competed on the football field. Hopefully Ty Montgomery will be healthy to play.
From the Foster Farms Bowl Website:
"The Bay Area's annual college football bowl game between the Pac-12 Conference and the Big Ten Conference comes to Levi's® Stadium on Tuesday, December 30 at 7 p.m.
After previously being held at AT&T Park, the game is moving to the 49ers' new Levi's Stadium for the first time in 2014.
The game, previously known as both the Fight Hunger Bowl and the Emerald Bowl, will now be sponsored by Foster Farms as the Foster Farms Bowl. It will pit teams from the Pac-12 Conference and Big Ten Conference against one another as part of a new six-year agreement between the parties."
The writing has been on the wall for quite some time that the Foster Farms Bowl wanted Stanford. Initial reports came out today that Stanford would be playing Iowa or possibly even Nebraska, but those have proven to be inaccurate.
SB Nation is now confirming that Stanford will play Maryland in the Foster Farms Bowl. This is Maryland's first season in the Big Ten and is coming off a tough loss to Rutgers in their last game of the season. You can read all about the Terrapins football team HERE.
