The Charlotte Hornets selected Dwight Powell with the 45th pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night, but shortly after, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, traded the Stanford alum along with Brendan Haywood, the teams 7’0" Center, to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Alonzo Gee .
Dwight Powell, averaged 14.0 PPG, 6.9 RPG and 3.1 APG in his senior campaign, and considered entering the NBA Draft last summer, but decided against it because of the promise he had with his mother.
Jarron Collins, Landry Fields and Josh Childress were the notable athletes to congratulate Powell on Twitter for the great accomplishment of being drafted into NBA.
