David Long Jr. Decommits from Stanford
On December 18th, 4-star CB David Long Jr. withdrew his verbal commit to pursue other options. This wasn’t that big of a surprise to anyone since he was only a soft commit. To explain what a soft commit is, let’s think about an open relationship. An open relationship is being kind of committed to someone, but still going out with other people. That is what a soft commit is. He was technically committed to Stanford but still flirting with other teams. When Long decommitted from Stanford there was some speculation whether he had or had not gotten in to the college, so this may have been a reason for his decommitment. Some other teams that are interested in David Long are: Washington and Michigan. Washington would be a great fit for him because of their already superb defense. Michigan is bringing in a new defensive coordinator since DJ Durkin left for Maryland. They are bringing in former Boston College DC (who were #1 in total defense this past year), Don Brown. Wherever Long goes, he will be successful and wreak havoc on opposing offenses. With Long out of the 2016 class this leaves Stanford with Nygel Edmonds and Treyjohn Butler as the two CBs of the class.
