The Stanford men's basketball team kicks off their 26th postseason appearance on Tuesday evening as the #2 seed in the Colorado St. region of the 2015 National Invitation Tournament. The Cardinal square off against UC Davis, a team that is making their first postseason appearance as a Division I school. Stanford holds a 17-1 record all-time against UC Davis and a 13-5 record in their 7 NIT appearances.
While many, understandably are not excited about the NIT there is quite a bit on the line for Stanford. For starters Coach Dawkins may be feeling the heat in Palo Alto and could use an impressive postseason performance to cool things down. The NIT also provides seniors the opportunity to impress pro scouts as well as valuable postseason experience for the underclassmen. It also provides us another opportunity to go to enjoy a game at Maples.
