Don’t look now, but Stanford Football is off to a blazing start on the recruiting trail as their 2016 class begins to take shape. 4-star Defensive Back Nygel Edmonds from SEC country (Chattanooga, Tennessee) is the latest prep star to choose Stanford over a litany of suitors, such as Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes and Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.
Edmonds joins fellow 4-star recruits QB KJ Costello, ATH Curtis Robinson, and TE Kaden Smith in the already promising class of 2016. The agile and instinctive Edmonds has ideal size for a Defensive Back at 6- feet,185 pounds and projects as a safety at the next level.
Below are his junior season highlights:
David Shaw and his staff have been bringing in elite prospects from around the country since taking over in 2011, but no class has gotten off to a start quite like this. This recent string of commitments is a sign that the Stanford brand is still strong despite an underwhelming 2014 season on the field.
Look for this class to continue to gain steam leading up to Stanford’s "Junior Day" in mid-May where recruits from around the country will congregate in Palo Alto to experience Stanford in person. While it’s been a banner few weeks on the Farm, this looks to be just the beginning of a monster recruiting stretch for Stanford football.
