Just days before the inaugural Polynesian Bowl will be played in Hawaii, Ridgeline (Utah) High School four-star Levani Damuni’s has named his three finalists, one of which he will choose to attend during Saturday’s game.
As expected, the Cardinal made the final cut, along with the home-state Utah Utes and the University of Virginia.
Damuni, a 6-2, 255-pound outside linebacker, will team with fellow Cardinal targets Connor Wedington and Chaz Ah You on Team Stanley (coached by current Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle and ESPN AFC North Rookie of the Year Ronnie Stanley) to face #CardClass17 running back commit Sione Heimuli-Lund and Team Mariota (yes, that Mariota).
Though he was not offered until late in the recruiting process (David Shaw’s promise came in late November), Damuni is a high-motor guy who will take down anyone with a football in their hands. His vision as a pure-speed rusher compounded with his brute strength at the point of attack in the trenches makes him a dangerous defensive threat
Oh, so now you want a player comparison? Here’s who I think he he fits the mold of…
That’s right: Damuni’s ceiling is Shayne Skov. Both guys were 6-2 and hovering around 230 pounds. Skov was a 235-pound battering ram as the nation’s third best inside linebacker out of New Jersey. They both play with fiery passion and tackle with reckless abandon. Coincidence? I think not.
If Damuni does indeed pick the Cardinal, his talents will be a highly-valued addition to Lance Anderson’s Stanford defense.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN3. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Central.
