Stanford WBB v Gonzaga. What I saw, from where I sat.

Sometimes you win pretty. Sometimes you gut out a quality win. Sometimes you win when you deserve to lose. Sometimes you win ugly. This win, however, was coyote ugly. We played poorly. Give GU full marks for defensive intensity and aggressive play. Neither of which accounts for poor FT's our poor shooting. Random thoughts and observations:

The opening intro music sucks. Moving on. Hannah is the latest edition of the Masked Woman.

Gonzaga had a plan and stuck with it. Overly aggressive play, combined with cold shooting made for an uncomfortable game to watch. Sometimes you win with your B game and that was the case here. It won't win you a game against a top ten team but it was enough for this game. They clogged the low paint and we were not able to hit outside shots to loosen that strategy up. So be it.

Lexie has been working on the catch and shoot three point shot. We've seen it a number of times in previous games and she was huge in this game.

Tara was subbing freely in this game looking for a combination that would provide a spark. Ashten was instrumental in the second period and Hailey and Fran were key in the third.

All in all, these types of close affairs give valuable experience to young players.

Here's hoping for a less stressful game against Buffalo.
