The Big Game: How to watch, an open thread on Stanford vs Cal

It’s time to reclaim The Axe for the Stanford Cardinal. After losing it for the first time in a decade last year, the Cardinal are locked into a Friday afternoon battle with the California Golden Bears in the 123rd Big Game, and the first time the game has been played on a non-Saturday since 1900.

It also marks an important aspect for the Bears, as this game is their 2020 home opener after having to cancel their original home opener this year.

The game sees both enter at 0-2 and both in need of a win. Cal has had their own share of problems this season, much like Stanford has, as they’ve both had a game canceled, and both have gotten suboptimal play from their quarterbacks who were largely thought of as the strengths of each team.

The secondaries for both teams have been strong, despite what box scores show in the opponent’s passing yard categories, and both Stanford QB Davis Mills and Cal QB Chase Garbers will have to bring their A-game against these talented units.

Let this serve as our place to make sure we’re watching, discuss what we’re seeing and GET THE AXE BACK.
