Your Stanford Cardinal are back and today, they take on the Oregon Ducks, the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 North. The Cardinal are betting underdogs despite a ton of overturn on the Ducks roster, and as such, can shock the world today when they take on head coach Mario Cristobal’s unit.
The Cardinal take on the Ducks in the 7:30/4:30 pm ET/PT game-time window just after UCLA and Colorado kick off at 7:00/4:00 pm ET/PT.
Game Prediction
The Cardinal are returning some very important players on offense, and as such, should have a distinct advantage going in. Davis Mills returns at quarterback while the Ducks are going to go with a two-headed approach, or at least with one of either Tyler Shough or Boston College transfer Anthony Brown.
Stanford, despite the loss of future NFL player Walker Little at left tackle, still has another distinct advantage along the offensive line as Oregon is replacing five starters from a year ago, including the best player in college football: Penei Sewell.
Defensively, the Ducks are also without a few future NFLers in Thomas Graham, Nick Pickett and Jevon Holland, and that bodes well because the Cardinal will have to air it out to defeat this talented defensive front that does return.
Stanford is without the services of two starting cornerbacks from a season ago as well as a projected starter at linebacker in Gabe Reid as they’ll break in new cornerbacks with the opt-out from Paulson Adebo and Kyu Blu Kelly out due to undisclosed reasons.
This one goes closer than the experts are saying, and the Cardinal have a very great chance of grinding this game out with some tight offensive line play.
The advantage in quarterback play pays dividends, however, and in a low-scoring affair, Stanford pulls this one out, 21-20.
