Relive the Fran Slam over, and over, and over

It doesn’t take a genius to know that all that can go well for the Stanford Cardinal women’s basketball program is going well. No. 1 in the nation, the Cardinal are cruising past every opponent that they can schedule and keep on the schedule.

They’ve won their first four games of the season by a combined margin of 375-182 and legendary head coach Tara VanDerveer has tied Pat Summitt for most wins all-time in the process. While the next victory will be for sole possession of the record, we had some highlight-reel material moments come in the most recent victory over Cal.

Stanford’s Francesca Belibi was the reason for breaking out the highlight reel in Stanford’s 83-38 throttling of Cal on Sunday night. Belibi took a fast break down the court and did what Fran Can: A Fran Slam!

Relive the moment, and by relive, I mean watch it over and over again as Belibi slams down a fast-break opportunity for two points.

It’s not like we haven’t seen that before from Belibi — but in game, that one is extra special. Add it to the fact that it happened in Coach Tara’s record-tying victory, and you’ve got a special game for the Cardinal recordbooks.
