Stanford uses payscale.com data to appeal to recruits. In my era (1970s), referring so directly to how much money a Stanford grad makes would have been considered crass, but times have changed and when it comes to recruiting, you have to use any advantage you can get, even over the University of Dead Fake Girlfriends.
