Last Saturday was the Cardinal-White Spring game - a big day for the future of Stanford football on the field - but it was also a big day off the field. Four-star Kaden Smith announced on twitter that he will be spending the next four years wearing cardinal and white.

Along with the Stanford offer, Smith had offers from Alabama, Baylor and Texas. Smith said the reason he committed to Stanford was because he liked how Stanford has kept improving. He did point out the down year, but said coach David Shaw "Is a great coach" and that the Cardinal will bounce back in the 2015-2016 campaign.

Catching 46 footballs in under a minute is impressive, but that should not be the only reason why Stanford should be looking forward to his arrival. Smith will be a welcoming edition to the Stanford program because of his size and strength.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Flower Mound product shows he can handle the responsibilities of being a blocker as well as being a mismatch nightmare. His size will be a problem for any LB or DB because his route running is top notch for his size. Smith’s quick and powerful hands make up for the slowness of his first step and this will make him an elite blocking talent. Overall, Kaden Smith is a perfect fit into this blue-collar offensive system and who knows maybe he could be the next Zach Ertz.
