Stanford coach David Shaw stepped in front of the microphone shortly after Stanford’s 34-10 victory over Arizona. He was clearly in a much better mood compared to his previous post game press conference following the Colorado game. Shaw said he was excited to get a win, and that he spoke to his team about finishing drives and playing their style of football. It was also important for the offensive line to get Christian McCaffrey into the second level according to Shaw because they know he can do incredible things once he gets past the line of scrimmage.

Keller Chryst made some good plays and missed some plays according to Shaw which is what he expected. There were receivers downfield that Shaw thought were open Chryst did not target. That is something they want to work on this week. Shaw wanted to use this game to evaluate his team including Chryst. After evaluation, the coaching staff is going to to determine what next steps they need to take. Shaw’s initial assessment of the team is that they played well tonight but that they could play so much better.
