Stanford Defensive End Brennan Scarlett is reportedly headed to the Houston Texans according to John McClain of Chron.com. Scarlett was signed as an undrafted free agent after being projected as a 7th round pick or a UDFA.

Scarlett made headlines when he decided to graduate transfer from the Cal Bears to Stanford. Scarlett dealt with injuries every year while in school but had a solid season with Stanford. Scarlett was not invited to the NFL combine and for the most part flew under the League's radar for most of the draft process. Mike Mayock of the NFL Network, however, was on the Farm for Stanford's Pro Day and took notice:
"It was Scarlett's first, and perhaps only, chance to showcase his talent, as he didn't receive an invite to the combine. The NFL's elite might not have paid notice to Scarlett, but once again, Mayock had done his homework, and had some thoughts to share on the 6-foot-4, 269-pounder.
"I'd seen him on tape," Mayock said. "I was kind of intrigued by him and I wanted to see him today. I thought he moved well and he's another draftable guy that nobody talked about.""

"The graduate transfer made a splash on the Farm in 2015 with his best season as a collegiate. Scarlett had been marred every year as a member of the Cal Football program, and was never a yearlong contributor as every season was cut short due to injury. Scarlett has decent size, and was described by Outland Trophy winner Josh Garnett as the hardest person to block on the Stanford defense. Injury concerns could be the only thing holding Scarlett back as the Graduate Transfer has never played a full season, and has fell victim to the training room every year. Look for teams to take a chance on Scarlett late on Day 3, or possibly be a Priority Free Agent signing.
