Stanford Football Coach David Shaw Hints at Return of Black Jerseys
As SB Nation Bay Area notes, Stanford head football coach David Shaw tweeted that he met with the Cardinal's Nike rep yesterday and some new gear is on the way. "Maybe even some new black jerseys..."
I wasn't a fan of the black look, which Stanford debuted last season against Wake Forest, but the players seemed to like it.

All black is fine...
if you have red stripes or chevrons on them. The all-blacks from the Wake Forest game were just terrible all around to watch on the field, not to mention that in the fluorescent lighting of Stanford Stadium they looked dark navy blue at times. UW could pull off the blackout, but Stanford just didn’t look right at all.
But since Stanford has seven home games this year, eh, no harm in having it as a one-off thing again. But please put some red on it somewhere.

Yeah, they definitely looked blue.
The Twitterverse was very confused that night.

OR some combination of black/white
The black unis were fine, but RedOscar brings up an interesting point that they looked dark navy blue from far away. I think if the team wore black jerseys with the regular white pants, it could work (especially because the white pants would complement the white helmets).
Alternatively, I wouldn’t mind if the team just kept the traditional cardinal/white unis. We don’t need a million uniform combinations.
